Veteran actor Sayaji Shinde hardly has any role in the film. It’s only a matter of time when Bollywood laps him up and gets him added to the list of ‘bad men’. Suryah’s performance as the heartless and spineless killer on the spree is outstanding. Even though Rakul Preet Singh plays his love interest, there is hardly anything substantial that she contributes to the film besides the glam quotient. There are places wherein he freezes before the camera, but, his overall performance overshadows such scenes. Even the scenes which defy the norms of filmmaking, the dedication with which he performs such scenes looks damn convincing. The sincerity and innocence that he exudes in his character makes him furthermore endearing. Overall it is the usual cat-and-mouse game with some amazing touches by AR Murugadoss. RJ Balaji too doesn't have much scope in his character. The heroine is the weakest of characterisations in the whole of the film containing little screen space. The villains past aka flashback is not a cliché and is convincing. His role is effective and at times reminds us of the JOKER in The Dark knight and the film also contains a similar interrogation scene. Even though such lapses are present, they could be overlooked for the sake of SJ Suryah, the main antagonist. Ineffective romantic portions and logical lapses in fight sequences had slowed down the pace. The expectations created by the first half is let down by the second half.
But one such case, a mysterious one, forms the crust of the story. Mahesh Babu, acts as an intelligence bureau officer whose motive is to help the innocent before any mishap. Superb story and a grippy screenplay is the crust of the film. Mahesh Babu has nailed it with his bilingual.
